Hiroshima best things to do and what to see
Local interview notes
Hiroshima Toshogu Shrine is a gorgeously decorated shrine located at the kimon (demon gate) of Hiroshima Castle. Built in 1648, it enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu as the main deity and has been watching over the prosperity of Hiroshima ever since. The buildings with intricate sculptures, such as the Sleeping Cat, the Yomeimon Gate, and the Karamon Gate, are all designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. The shrine is also known as one of the few buildings that miraculously survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and plays an important role as a symbol of peace. Hiroshima Toshogu Shrine, where you can feel history, culture, and peace, is a must-visit place when you are in Hiroshima. For details and inquiries, please click the link below.
